The purpose of this manuscript is to reflect and to contribute to the debates on the issue of transborder relations, its definitions, border knowledge, the daily life on the border, and the relations between scholars on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. I take as a starting point the discussions of one of the panels of the LASA 2016 Congress in Puerto Rico. From there I consider and elaborate on a transborder definition, then I comment on a couple of transborder books (because of the topics and the author’s conformation and selection). Finally, I return to the debate in Puerto Rico to raise a series of questions and considerations as to whether transborder academic relations lead to intellectual colonialism.
