His research includes improving English proficiency through extensive reading and fostering media literacy in Japanese university students. He is the author of <em>Deconstructing Reaganism: An Analysis of American Fantasy Films<\/em> (2014, Cambridge Scholars Press), &#8220;Bridging the Gap Between Narrative and Expository Writing&#8221; (2019, <em>California English, Vol. 24, No. 5<\/em>) and &#8220;One Big Happy Family? It also explores how it both reflects and supports President Trump&#8217;s politics of fear that not only got him elected, but has broadened and strengthened his support from conservatives since. An in-depth exploration of selected scenes from episodes of three Netflix series: <em>Narcos<\/em>, <em>Narcos: Mexico<\/em>, and <em>El Chapo<\/em> offers evidence of why such programs have become so popular for American viewers and continue to propagate Donald Trump&#8217;s political pulpit of fear of illegal immigrants coming across the border to destroy conservative white America&#8217;s way of life. Based on the analysis of these three series, it becomes clear that their popularity can perhaps be traced to Donald Trump&#8217;s unexpected 2016 presidential win and his manipulative, and so far effective, use of politics of fear. In this context, the Netflix series mocks US law and journalism, which supports Trump\u2019s political agenda even further.<\/span><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/tab][tab icon_family=&#8221;none&#8221; title=&#8221;Resumen&#8221; id=&#8221;1580125134518-14e99-c3ec&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1591956318567-9&#8243;][vc_column_text]\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #b0b0b0;\">El presente art\u00edculo tiene como finalidad investigar las maneras en que la serie de televisi\u00f3n de Netflix, la cual tiene por t\u00edtulo &#8220;Narcos,&#8221; refuerza las im\u00e1genes negativas de los Latinos como peligrosos narcotraficantes que amenazan la seguridad y santidad de los ciudadanos estadounidenses, as\u00ed como tambi\u00e9n reflejar y apoyar las pol\u00edticas del miedo del Presidente Trump que no s\u00f3lo lo llev\u00f3 a ser electo, sino que ha ampliado y fortalecido su apoyo a los conservadores. Se ofrece una breve historia de &#8220;La Guerra contra las Drogas&#8221; de Estados Unidos y un profundo an\u00e1lisis de escenas seleccionadas de episodios pertenecientes a tres series de Netflix, las cuales son Narcos, Narcos: M\u00e9xico y El Chapo. Este an\u00e1lisis ofrece evidencias del por qu\u00e9 tales programas se han vuelto tan populares para los televidentes estadounidenses y contin\u00faan propagando el p\u00falpito de la pol\u00edtica del miedo de Donald Trump a los inmigrantes ilegales que cruzan la frontera para destruir el estilo de vida de los blancos conservadores de Estados Unidos. Basado en el an\u00e1lisis de estas tres series, queda claro que su popularidad tal vez pueda ser atribuida a la inesperada victoria presidencial de Donald Trump en 2016 y a su uso manipulador, y muy efectivo hasta la actualidad, de la pol\u00edtica del miedo.
