She has taught Mexican and Latin American Literature both in the US and Mexico. Her research focuses on Indigenous Cultures in Mexico and on cultural and politics in recent Mexican novels. The text offers the author\u2019s memories interwoven with those narrated by her family. The memories present traditions, beliefs and events in the community that are also intertwined with the h\u00f1\u00e4h\u00f1u worldview. Furthermore, some of the family stories denounce the pervasive scarcity and gender violence. The voices that converge in the discourse belong to departed ones, figures that are either dead or banished from the town. Based on the works of Jacques Derrida and Avery Gordon, this article analyzes the text from a spectrality perspective in order to examine these ghostly voices\u2019 presence as a form of denounce and as a social figure that unveils a colonial system, which is still haunting postcolonial nations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #b0b0b0;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/tab][tab icon_family=&#8221;none&#8221; title=&#8221;Resumen&#8221; id=&#8221;1532705295639-39657-6df5&#8243; tab_id=&#8221;1547557827370-1&#8243;][vc_column_text]\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #b0b0b0;\"><em>Alas a la palabra<\/em> (2008) es un libro de memorias y reflexiones culturales y personales de Adela Calva Reyes, mujer h\u00f1\u00e4h\u00f1u (u otom\u00ed) originaria de San Ildefonso, estado de Hidalgo en M\u00e9xico. El texto ofrece recuerdos de la autora intercalados con los de miembros de su familia a trav\u00e9s de diferentes narradores. En estos recuerdos se presentan tradiciones, creencias y eventos del pueblo enlazados con la cosmovisi\u00f3n ind\u00edgena. Pero adem\u00e1s hay an\u00e9cdotas familiares en las que se pone de relieve una denuncia a la precariedad y a la violencia de g\u00e9nero. Estas voces convergentes en el discurso corresponden a personas muertas o de las que no se supo m\u00e1s en el pueblo. Este trabajo analiza el texto desde una perspectiva de espectralidad que se basa en el trabajo de Jacques Derrida para comentar la presencia de esas voces. Pero adem\u00e1s se estudia la forma espectral definida por Avery Gordon como una figura social que evidencia rasgos del sistema colonial que acecha a las naciones postcoloniales.
