Su especialidad es la literatura colonial novohispana y la contempor\u00e1nea mexicana. Entre libros, ediciones, cap\u00edtulos de libros, ensayos y art\u00edculos, cuenta con m\u00e1s de 200 publicaciones. Ha sido jurado de premios nacionales e internacionales. Es cofundadora y directora de UC-Mexicanistas, asociaci\u00f3n de investigadores sobre estudios mexicanos dentro y fuera de M\u00e9xico. Al hurgar en documentos relacionados con su familia, su vida cortesana, su destino conventual, nos encontramos con l\u00edneas de un retrato &#8220;novedoso&#8221; de su persona en su propia \u00e9poca. Se cuenta ya con datos digamos certeros que apuntan a una biograf\u00eda integral que abrace varias facetas: Sor Juana pensadora, intelectual, te\u00f3loga, artista, escritora, economista, entre varios rasgos de una personalidad compleja y fascinante. Partimos de varias preguntas: \u00bfc\u00f3mo era la familia de Sor Juana?, \u00bfqu\u00e9 tiempo transcurre de su salida del convento de las carmelitas descalzas a su ingreso en el de San Jer\u00f3nimo?, \u00bfes Juana In\u00e9s su nombre de pila o s\u00f3lo el de Juana?, \u00bfde qu\u00e9 modo aparece su imagen en escritos de su convento?, \u00bfqu\u00e9 pas\u00f3 con sus\u00a0 libros al final de su vida?, \u00bffue realmente reprimida por la Iglesia?, \u00bfc\u00f3mo hacer la cr\u00f3nica de San Jer\u00f3nimo marcada por la muerte &#8220;colectiva&#8221; de enero a abril de 1695? De \u00e9stas y otras preguntas, y sus respuestas proporcionadas por documentos \u201cnovedosos\u201d resulta una imagen algo distinta de lo que se sab\u00eda de Sor Juana In\u00e9s de la Cruz y sus tiempos. Siguiendo el rastro de documentos y sus relaciones entre s\u00ed, me propongo ofrecer ciertos esbozos de certezas sobre qui\u00e9n fue Sor Juana In\u00e9s de la Cruz (y sus avatares). El &#8220;qui\u00e9n fue&#8221; tambi\u00e9n es de car\u00e1cter cambiante: Sor Juana la misma (aunque, como escribi\u00f3, &#8220;y diversa de m\u00ed misma&#8221;), y Sor Juana tambi\u00e9n hist\u00f3rica, cambiante. A\u00f1adir m\u00e1s l\u00edneas a su retrato, tomadas de documentos del siglo XVII y de principios del XVIII, da lugar a la imagen de un ser humano m\u00e1s relacionado con su \u00e9poca y tambi\u00e9n con la nuestra: una Sor Juana In\u00e9s de la Cruz para especialistas y para no especialistas; la respuesta a un reclamo de equidad y pluralidad urgentes en esta mitad de la segunda d\u00e9cada del siglo XXI.<\/span><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/tab][tab icon_family=&#8221;none&#8221; title=&#8221;Abstract&#8221; id=&#8221;1547557827331-10faf1-3435&#8243; tab_id=&#8221;1547574984022-4&#8243;][vc_column_text]\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #b0b0b0;\">Recently discovered documents dating back to the time of Sor Juana In\u00e9s de la Cruz call for a reappraisal of the Novo-Hispanic poet\u2019s biography. While perusing documents related to her family, her court life, and her conventual destiny, we perceive the contours of a &#8220;<\/span><span style=\"color: #b0b0b0;\">novel&#8221; portrait of her person in her own lifetime. We already have what we could call &#8220;data&#8221;, pointing to an integral and multifaceted biography: Sor Juana the thinker, the intellectual, the artist, the theologian, the writer, and the economist, among numerous traits of a complex and fascinating personality. This investigation begins with the following questions: What was Sor Juana\u2019s family like? How much time elapsed between her departure from the convent of the Carmelites and her entrance into San Jer\u00f3nimo? Is Juana In\u00e9s her first name or only Juana? In which way does her image appear in her writings at the convent? What happened to her books at the end of her life? Was she really oppressed by the Church? How might one write the chronicle San Jer\u00f3nimo marked by the &#8220;collective&#8221; death of 1695? From these and other questions, and from the answers offered by &#8220;novel&#8221; documents emerges a somewhat different image of Sor Juana and her time from that which was previously observed. Following the trail of documents and their relations, I suggest some notions of certainty regarding the identity of Sor Juana In\u00e9s de la Cruz (and her avatars). The question of &#8220;who she was&#8221; is also of a changing nature: Sor Juana one and the same (although, as she wrote, &#8220;and diverse from myself&#8221;), and also Sor Juana the changing historical figure. The additional contours of her portrait are supplied by documents dating from the 17<sup>th<\/sup> and early 18<sup>th<\/sup> centuries. They provide an image of a human being more related to her era and also to ours: a Sor Juana In\u00e9s de la Cruz for specialists and for non-specialists; the answer to a call for equality and plurality urgently needed in this half of the second decade of the 21st century.<\/span><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/tab][tab icon_family=&#8221;none&#8221;
