In the field of Latin American studies, his main interest is in Mexico, especially in questions of cultural and philosophical theory, and in the research of 19th century literature and contemporary and popular literatures. In the area of Spanish Philology he is particularly devoted to the analysis of writing in situations of censorship.<br \/>\nHis most recent studies of Spanish and French literature, as well as contemporary cinema, are mainly devoted to intercultural hermeneutics, postcolonialism and the issue of transcultural processes. Another focus is experimental comics in France and Belgium. Frank Leinen has been awarded several research prizes. In addition to his essays in the aforementioned research areas, he has published or compiled the following volumes: &#8220;Flaubert and the Commonplace. Aspects of Stereotypy in the Works of Gustave Flaubert&#8221; (Flaubert und der Gemeinplatz. Even though Puebla, along with the capital and Gudalajara, was an important place for the production of printed matter, the contribution of the newspapers published there to the independence process has not yet been evaluated. Accordingly, based on an analytical model for defining collective identity designs, this paper systematically examines all articles published in the aforementioned periodicals. This makes it possible, following the concept of &#8220;thick description&#8221; (Geertz), to record and evaluate in detail the historical circumstances of the Independencia and the political discourses prevailing at the time in the context of local and regional events. The focus is also on the genesis of those problems and contradictions that were to continue to have an impact long after 1821 in the course of the Mexican self-definition and nation-building.<\/span><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/tab][tab icon_family=&#8221;none&#8221; title=&#8221;Resumen&#8221; id=&#8221;1532705295639-33d7d-8e03&#8243; tab_id=&#8221;1580125134518-1&#8243;][vc_column_text]\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #b0b0b0;\">Partiendo de la tesis de que el an\u00e1lisis de las publicaciones peri\u00f3dicas mexicanas del siglo XIX constituye un medio excelente para reconstruir la evoluci\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica a nivel nacional, pero tambi\u00e9n regional y local, este art\u00edculo examina tres publicaciones peri\u00f3dicas de distinto color pol\u00edtico que se publicaron en Puebla entre 1820 y 1822, en la \u00e9poca de la desvinculaci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica de M\u00e9xico con Espa\u00f1a: La Abeja Poblana, El Farol y El Amigo del Pueblo. A pesar de que Puebla fue una plaza importante en la producci\u00f3n de impresos, junto con la capital y Gudalajara, la contribuci\u00f3n de las publicaciones peri\u00f3dicas editadas aqu\u00ed a\u00fan no ha sido evaluada en el contexto del movimiento independentista mexicano. En consecuencia, a partir de un modelo anal\u00edtico para captar los conceptos de identidad colectiva, este trabajo examina sistem\u00e1ticamente todos los art\u00edculos publicados en las citadas publicaciones peri\u00f3dicas. Esto permite, siguiendo el concepto de &#8220;thick description&#8221; (Geertz), registrar y evaluar en detalle las circunstancias hist\u00f3ricas de la Independencia y los discursos pol\u00edticos imperantes en la \u00e9poca en el contexto de los acontecimientos locales y regionales.
